1. Remove top cover and gently pull out the eyepiece assembly on microscope revealing Ovulation Scope slide. |

4. Smear the saliva on the slide area. |

2. Clean the slide surface with a soft cloth or paper without deckle edge. |
 |
5. Allow the saliva to thoroughly dry for 4-5 minutes. |
 |
3. Take a generous amount of saliva using your clean fingertip. |

6. Insert the eyepiece into unit. Focus till you can see the clear image by turning the eyepiece in or out. |

During fertile days a sample of saliva looks like “ferns”, during the non-fertile days only shapeless “dotted” structures may be seen. “Fern” structures start 3-4 days before ovulation occurs. The fertile period lasts less than 1 week. In addition to clearly “dotted” or “fern” patterns, the saliva sample may appear to be a combination of the two images. This is called a “transition” pattern. During this period it may be possible that the woman is fertile. If you do not become pregnant during the indicated periods and wish to become pregnant, it is recommended that you consult a physician. |

Infertile period
During the infertile period the pattern is random, and unconnected dots appear. |
Transition period
This period is the most difficult to determine. It will show a combination of dots and ferns. You are less fertile, but conception is still possible. |
Fertile period
At this stage your saliva will dry in “Fern” like patterns. Ferns appear approximately 3-4days before ovulation begins and continues 2-3days after it stops. |
